Inko 2.0 Brings Remote Whiteboarding

Creaceed releases Inko 2.0, an upgrade to their collaborative whiteboard app for iOS, Mac and Apple TV. Inko 2.0 brings collaborative drawing over the Internet as well as a new Mac Catalyst app. This version also comes with an updated user interface and support for modern iOS features such as high-performance Metal rendering, Dark Mode, and Smart Screenshots.

This app lets multiple users draw together on the same virtual whiteboard with instant feedback. This is a great tool for schools and businesses alike as Inko can be used during meetings, brainstorming sessions and school group work. Inko also offers a remarkable drawing experience through its extensive support for Apple Pencil, as well as a beautiful pixel-free visualization with vibrant colors on wide color displays (P3). Inko’s peer-to-peer connectivity makes infrastructure network or internet access superfluous, offering a one-tap setup process that permits easy deployment in any environment. Moreover, Inko 2.0 now offers remote drawing over the Internet, bringing richer interactions with people from other places or even all around the world.

Macs can now also join other iOS devices thanks to Inko’s new Mac Catalyst app. Combined with video conferencing, Inko 2.0 is thus a key tool for remote collaboration, group work, or 1-to-1 teaching. The free Apple TV companion app enables live mirroring of contents on large displays, up to 4K, at a fraction of the cost of dedicated interactive whiteboards by reusing standard multi-purpose equipment (tablets, TVs), and it also offers innovative interaction with the remote as a laser pointer.

New features in this version:

  • Remote collaboration over the Internet to draw with anyone around the world
  • A Mac Catalyst app that brings the Inko experience to the Mac. Join or create a drawing group using your Mac, along with iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV
  • High-performance Metal rendering
  • Support of modern iOS features: Dark Mode, Universal Link, SF Symbols, Smart Screenshot, Siri Shortcuts

Other features include:

  • Beautiful pixel-free visualization with vibrant colors (on P3 displays)
  • Extensive Apple Pencil support with finger action, angle, pressure, high-speed & predictive sampling
  • Real-time drawing: highly responsive, “appears-as-it-happens” multi-user drawing with no lag including from remote locations

  • Remote Collaboration: seamless connectivity over the Internet for global reach via invitation link sharing
  • Up to 8 participants for peer-to-peer connectivity or 12 participants for LAN/Internet
  • Group saving for quick setup of future sessions
  • Security & privacy: TLS connection between devices (nearby) and end-to-end encryption with daily data removal on server (remote)
  • No account creation

Archisketch 2.9 for iPad Now Available

Open Screen Ltd. has released the latest version of Archisketch, their scale-aware sketching app for iPad. With its freehand sketching features and solid line drawing tools, Archisketch provides a simple, effective early-stage design and development solution with none of the complications of the CAD and BIM software traditionally used in the design industry.

Archisketch users are not only enjoying the ease with which they can now produce scale drawings but many of them are also finding the app to be a useful stepping stone to the digital age. Take dvdbrwn, for example, who ended his five-star App Store review with these words: “This review from a senior, now transitioning to digital drawing after 35 years in the world of paper, pencil, pens and brushes.” Or Ian Clifford, a Project Engineer from Revolusun Massachusetts, who said: “The app is great by the way and saves me so much time! Actually it got me a big raise at work, once I was able to show how much faster solar systems could be designed.”

As well as adding a number of new features and improvements, this version of Archisketch will allow works to be submitted for the “Archisketch Drawing Contest”, which is running during the month of February 2018.

Archisketch Drawing Contest:
Open Screen Limited is now accepting submissions for its “Archisketch Drawing Contest“, with more than $2,500 in prize monies to be won. The competition is free to enter and it’s open to all existing and potential users of Archisketch. The competition aims to demonstrate the wide variety of work that can be produced using Archisketch on the iPad. If you are not an Archisketch user, you can still participate in the competition by becoming a beta tester. This not only gives you full access to Archisketch and allows you to submit to the “Archisketch Drawing Contest”, but it also lets you use the application’s upcoming drawing features in your submissions. To register as a beta tester or for more information on the “Archisketch Drawing Contest” please visit the Archisketch Competition Page.

New Features:
Version 2.9 of Archisketch features major improvements to the polygon drawing tool – users can now select multiple nodes and then either move them, delete them or round off their corners. In addition, improvements to PDF integration allow sub sets of pdf pages to be imported from multi-page PDF documents. And, wherever possible, non-rasterised PDF files are now generated for emailing. Other enhancements include the ability to search for specific projects by title, and refinements to the measuring tools, allowing for the rounding of two decimal places.

Archisketch 2.9 is available immediately from the App Store as a free download for use with up to 50 shapes in two projects, with an in-app purchase for unlimited shapes and projects for US$9.99 (USD). Version 2.9 requires iOS 11 or later on an iPad, iPad Air or iPad Pro. Support for Apple Pencil requires an iPad Pro.

“iPad, and especially iPad Pro, is an incredible creative platform,” said Robert Grant, plasq’s CEO. “Now, with Comic Draw for Schools, students of all artistic levels can easily create and share complete multi-page comics right on their iPad. We’re excited to see all the new creative potential this will unleash for students.”

Comic Draw for Schools is perfect for creative learning; aiding students to develop planning, conceptual thinking and design skills. Comic Draw for Schools helps students learn about sequential storytelling and allows for student expression. Comic Draw for Schools has everything students require: brushes, fonts and tools to make creating cartoons and comics a fun and easy learning experience.

Drawing in Comic Draw for Schools is divided between two separate modes: Sketching and Inking & Coloring. The Sketching interface is distinct and simplified allowing students to focus on creating the simple forms that underlie their final artwork. Once sketching is complete the Inking & Coloring interface brings additional tools and brushes so that the artwork can be refined. Students will find a variety of brushes and color palettes to get them started all of which are customizable. Comic Draw for Schools also incorporates advanced features such as blending, masking, filtering, layer groups and multiple perspective guides per page in order to support the most ambitious projects.

For script-editing and lettering Comic Draw for Schools inherits many capabilities from the Apple Design Award-winning Comic Life. Balloons and their associated tails can be positioned and reshaped as needed, while lettering can be warped for dramatic effect. The lettering elements can also be previewed while sketching ensuring that the entire page will work together before final artwork commences.
