Customize and Enhance the macOS Mouse Pointer with Pro Mouse

Independent developer, Alec Summers announces Pro Mouse 1.4, an update to his mouse enhancement tool for macOS. Pro Mouse allows users to run demos, presentations, and tutorials like a pro by customizing and enhancing the Mac’s mouse pointer to bring focus to what matters. Pro Mouse allows users to quickly locate the mouse pointer, draw anywhere on the screen, zoom into any location, and highlight portions of the screen.

This app is a standalone macOS utility that runs in the background until needed. Pro Mouse allows users to quickly locate their mouse pointer on-screen, thanks to the app’s customizable mouse halo, which can be customized to change the halo’s color, size, and thickness.

“Pro Mouse helps users make their presentations stand out. Gone are the days of losing your mouse cursor on screen or being unable to easily focus attention on important information,” says Alec Summers, developer of Pro Mouse. “Now users can draw on screen to highlight important areas on the display, zoom in to better show even the smallest details, and customize your Mouse Halo.”

Features:

  • Customize the Mouse Halo’s Color, Size & Thickness
  • Draw anywhere on the screen
  • Zoom in on even the smallest of details
  • Highlight part of the screen to bring focus on what matters with Searchlight
  • Customize the pen’s color and thickness
  • Set Hot Keys to enable certain Pro Mouse features
  • Automatically hide Halo after inactivity option
  • Automatically clear drawing(s)
  • Quickly enable/disable Pro Mouse straight from the status bar
  • Works across full screen apps and multiple displays
  • Works with conference call software such as Zoom and Google Hangouts
  • Works with screen capture apps
  • Specify any key combo for shortcuts to turn on/off Pro Mouse features with a keyboard shortcut
  • Preference panels to help navigate all the available settings
  • Users can launch the app with the last on/off states.

This app will have your audience following your every click. It’s easy to highlight what matters in your presentations, tutorials, and demos, even on video conference calls. Using Pro Mouse’s drawing capabilities, you can draw on the screen, then clear the drawings with a click of a button.

Pro Mouse’s live tracking Zoom and Searchlight features allow users to emphasize specific areas of the screen, even over video. No matter if you’re on a video conference call, using a full screen app, or using multiple displays, Pro Mouse works with them all.

You can customized the Mouse Halo’s and the pen’s color, size, and thickness. Users can set custom hot keys to enable certain Mouse Pro features. This app can quickly be enabled or disabled from the Mac’s status bar.

New in Version 1.4:

  • Fixed issue some users were reporting with external displays
  • Adjusted limits on the size of the mouse halo
  • Added option to ‘fill’ the halo to make it a solid color
  • Users can now switch off all Pro Mouse features with 1 click from the menu item
  • Added Portuguese localization

“We don’t collect and/or store your data, period. That’s our one sentence Privacy Policy,” continues Alec. “We don’t track or record our users’ on-screen actions, and never save any identifying information.”

Pro Mouse 1.4 is only $3.99 USD (or an equivalent amount in other currencies) and is available worldwide exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Utilities category. Redeem codes are available to journalists from the developer upon request.

Typinator Update Meets Apple’s Tightened Security

Ergonis Software updates Typinator, an improved version of their highly acclaimed text expander. Starting with February 2020, Apple once again strengthens the requirements for third-party apps, with an intention to ensure the security of end users. Notarized apps are scanned automatically by Apple for security issues and malicious code. Typinator 8.3 complies with all the increased security requirements and will continue to be a first-class citizen on macOS Catalina.

Version 8.3 also brings a number of improvements and fixes that make Typinator 8 more comfortable to use. It supports the Shuangpin input methods for Chinese and works around a problem with Catalina’s automatic dark mode, where Typinator’s menu icon was not correctly updated after an automatic light/dark change. Verson 8.3 also remembers and restores the width of the abbreviation column, fixes a problem where pictures were cut off or blank in the Quick Search results, and more. Visit Ergonis Software’s website to learn more about the changes in this release and to download and try the new version.

Typinator is a powerful, yet elegantly simple solution that boosts your productivity by automating the process of inserting frequently used text and auto-correcting typing errors. Across all applications, it detects specific sequences of typed characters and automatically replaces them with text snippets, graphics, URLs, dates and special characters.

Typinator can be purchased securely on the Ergonis Software website. The upgrade to Typinator 8.3 is free for anyone who purchased a license for Typinator on or after January 1st, 2019. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For information about purchases, including enterprise licenses, volume discounts, and upgrade pricing offers, see the company’s web site.

FontAgent Adds Catalina Support, Performance and Advanced Tagging

Insider Software announces FontAgent 9.5 for Mac, which adds support for macOS Catalina. Also included in update is faster activation, faster syncing and more robust tagging to the lengthy list of features. The new features help you organize, categorize, activate and visualize your fonts using FontAgent’s modern, customizable interface.

The new 9.5 release is compatible with Catalina (macOS 10.15) and takes advantage of the latest macOS platform functionality and APIs to optimize application performance, font activation and font rendering. V9.5 and V9 are also compatible with the Mojave and High Sierra releases of macOS, and both releases support Dark Mode.

FontAgent 9.5 widens font auto-activation support, so as you open documents in supported apps, FontAgent auto-activates them in macOS. Auto-activation now works in Adobe Creative Cloud 2019 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and InCopy); the Affinity product suite (Designer, Photo and Publisher); and QuarkXpress 2018. Version 9.5 makes font activation two times faster, especially for large font sets and collections.

FontAgent 9.5 include vastly improved keyword tagging. You can tag fonts and sets to classify them by client, project, usage, topic, theme, appearance, job number–however you want. You can also use tags in smart searches and Smart Sets to preview, compare and activate associated fonts easily. And when you share fonts with other users, you share their tags as well. The V9.5 release increases UI responsiveness when updating and sharing server- and user-assigned tags.

Fonts activated in Monotype SkyFonts and Adobe Fonts appear automatically in FontAgent. The Monotype SkyFonts service offers access to over 11,000 industry-leading fonts including the popular Google Fonts library. Adobe offers access to thousands of fonts as part of their Creative Cloud subscription service. Both services are tightly integrated into FontAgent, so you can compare their fonts with each other and with your existing font library.

Version 9.5 improve the performance of its built-in font cache clearing. You have the choice of clearing caches–for the current user or for all users on your Mac–immediately or when you logout, shutdown or restart your computer.

FontAgent 9.5 is priced at $99 per user. FontAgent 9 users can update to V9.5 at no charge.

Ergonis Software’s KeyCue, Typinator, and PopChar are macOS Catalina Supported

Ergonis Software announces PopChar X, Typinator, and KeyCue are ready for macOS Catalina. The newest versions of the individual products also bring new features and improvements. PopChar X 8.7 adds support for Unicode 12.0, including the new Emoji 12 characters, KeyCue 9.5 enhances package detection in folder views, and Typinator 8.2 offers faster Quick Search results when many items match the search term.

Since day one, Ergonis Software has been committed to providing high-quality macOS products that ‘just work’. “To achieve this goal, we put a lot of effort into our products behind the scenes to make them do their job flawlessly, fast, and unobtrusively. It is, therefore, no surprise that we are ready to release updated versions of our products right in time before the official release of macOS Catalina.” said Christoph Reichenberger, founder and CEO of Ergonis Software. “Said that I am also glad to mention that the newest versions of our products still run on older OS versions back to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion).”

All new versions also contain fixes and enhancements to improve compatibility and stability on all supported macOS versions and are therefore recommended upgrades for all users, independent from upgrades to Catalina. Visit Ergonis Software’s website to learn more about the changes in this release and to download the new version.

Upgrades and new licenses can be purchased securely at the Ergonis Software online store. The upgrades to the newest versions are free for anyone who owns a valid license for the most recent major version (that is, Typinator 8, PopChar 8, and KeyCue 9).
